Welcome to Merseyside Employment Law

Merseyside Employment Law (MEL) is a non for profit (NFP) community law centre. We provide specialist advice and Employment Tribunal representation to individuals in the areas of employment law and discrimination law. We also provide advice, guidance and training to other NFP agencies.
Our Charitable Aims: We aim to gain justice for individuals by tackling poverty, discrimination and disadvantage. We also aim to support other community organisations in achieving their aims and objectives. Our service is free to those individuals and organisations we can assist. However, individuals we assist with the funding we receive from the Legal Service Commission (LSC) must be eligible for legal aid which is means tested.
We are extremely grateful to all our funders such as : The Legal Service Commission (LSC), Equalities & Human Rights Commission (EHRC), Liverpool City Council and Capacity Builders.
Merseyside Employment Law online will provide further details of what we do, whether we can assist you and and how we can help you.
The following are samples of Employment Tribunal Claims: (see Services Page for further information)
Type of Claims
Discrimination
Unlawful Discrimination includes age, disability, race, religion, sex and sexual orientation. It can also be direct or indirect.
Unfair Dismissal & Constructive
A Dismissal may be unfair for a number of reasons. The employer may not have followed a fair procedure or the dismissal was unreasonable in all the circumstances. To claim Constructive Dismissal you must have resigned from your employment for fundamental reason/s. This is perhaps the most difficult claim to succeed.
Redundancy
Redundancy is a form of Dismissal. You have certain rights and in most cases, you must have been selected as a result of an objective criteria. Was your redundancy unfair dismissal?
Victimisation
Victimisation can occur when you are bullied or treated differently after bringing a complaint of discrimination or give evidence in someone elses claim of discrimination. Have you been victimised at work?
